What is SATTVPINDI YANTRA/PITRU Dosh Yantra?
Just like every deity, Pitras/ancestors souls too have their own sacred yantra called the SATTVPINDI YANTRA. It was originally given by Lord Shiva (Kaal Mahakaal) to the ancestors of the Raghukul dynasty in the form of SatPindas/SattvPindi Tarpan/SattvPindi Yantra. Below Shlok from Garud Purana Says it all;
“सत्त्वपिंद्दर्शनमात्रेण:पितॄणामनुदाम:भवेत्:”
Meaning – सत्त्वापिण्डी के दर्शन मात्र से ही पितृऋण से मुक्ति मिल जाती है
It combines:
- Kaalsarp Yantra
- Narayan Nagbali Pitra Patdi
- Tripindi Shraddha Yantra
These represent the three yonis: Dev Yoni, Yam Yoni, and Manushya Yoni, and address the three types of ancestors: Shant, Ashant, and Shrapit Pitra. It is placed inside a pyramid for protection and energy amplification.
The pyramid has:
- Five corners symbolizing five Tarpans (offerings)
- Four triangles to absorb negativity from four directions

It is said that Pitru Dosh Nivaran Pooja is effective only when it is performed by karmkandi vidwans (Satpindas Ritual Experts) at one of the Jyotirlinga.
